Does the Los Compadres neighborhood have more dog residents than any other Palm Springs neighborhood? We don't have statistics, but given the number of dogs and their human companions walking along the neighborhood sidewalks on any given morning, there's no doubt our four-legged compadres are big in number.  

The neighborhood is sprawling, covering a large area roughly from Sunrise Way on the west, El Cielo on the east, Mesquite Ave on the north, and Palm Canyon Dr to the south. There are three designated "sub-neighborhoods" including Sonora Sunrise, La Reina Estates, Little Beverly Hills, and Jasmine Homes, but the entire neighborhood character is diverse in that no one developer built out the neighborhood. The first residential development came in the 1950's into the 60's, followed by massive construction in the 1970s, including several low-density condo developments, including the popular Sunrise East, Sunrise Villas, Mesquite Canyon Estates, and the Diplomat. Most single family homes are "spanish-ranch" with tile roofs and heavy-trawled stucco. 

Shopping and dining are conveniently located at the nearby Smoketree Village and Smoketree Commons shopping centers. Hear live shows and savor a martini at the swanky Purple Room. Other nearby favorites are Giuseppes Pizzeria and 533 Viet-Fusion.

Currently in development stages (as of 12/2022), The Prescott Preserve and the CV Link are expected to be wonderful additions to recreational options in the neighborhood. The Prescott Preserve will have miles of walking trails with habitat for birds, butterflies, and other desert wildlife. The CV Link will eventually link Palm Springs to Coachella for a safe path for bicyclists, walkers, and low speed electric-powered vehicles.
