The Deepwell Estates neighborhood is located in a coveted south-end location, and is prized for its mid century architecture. Starchitects include: Donald Wexler, Howard Lapham, Hal Levitt, E Stuart Williams, Hugh Kaptur, William Krisel, Stan Sackley, and Herbert Burns. The neighborhood’s name came from the 620 ft + well that a scientist drilled in the mid 1920s after earlier farmers had lost their apricot orchards to drought. Beginning in the early 1930s, running for about eighteen years, the property was the renowned Deepwell Guest Ranch.
