Tahquitz River Estates
Palm Springs
Close-in, organic, and eclectic. That's the Tahquitz River Estates neighborhood. The oldest parts of the neighborhood go back to the early 1930s, and that's where you'll find a good sampling of small-ish homes with lovely Spanish revival architecture. In the late 1940s, after Tahquitz Creek had been "tamed", and a new bridge installed, Paul Trousdale, a Southern Cal builder, developed Tahquitz River Estates. The neighborhood's architecture, despite its eclecticism, is known for the "Trousdales" more than anything else. Designed by architect Allen Siple, "the Trousdales" feel warmer and more organic to me than the MCMs that came just a few years later.
New to the neighborhood is Cody Place, a gated community at the corner of Palm Canyon Dr and Mesquite Ave. The homes are contemporary in style and design, and are two and three levels.
Be sure to get a cone at Kreem, and tasty Mexican at El Mirasol.
